Old Word virus is reported

KillStar is a Word 97 generic virus, which also infects the versions of this useful Windows tool. It propagates through the infections of executable files.

Full Name: Virus.W97M/KillStar 
Type: Generic Virus.
Platform: [W97M] Known as Word 97 virus and newer versions.
Alias: WM97/KillStar-A by Sopho

When KillStar is executed for the first time, this will try to eliminate some files placed in the file where the OS is installed:


C:\WINDOWS\*.pdf
C:\WINDOWS\*.com
C:\WINDOWS\*.mp3
C:\WINDOWS\*.avi
C:\WINDOWS\*.xls
C:\WINDOWS\*.ini
C:\WINDOWS\*.txt
C:\WINDOWS\*.bmp
C:\WINDOWS\*.rar
C:\WINDOWS\*.rtf
C:\WINDOWS\*.gif
C:\WINDOWS\*.mpg
C:\WINDOWS\*.htm

The active document is copied many times by the KillStar in the following places and names:

C:\Winnt\System32\Bjk.doc
C:\Windows\Command\Njhg.doc
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Jfn.doc
C:\WINDOWS\HELP\Mdg.doc
C:\Windows\System32\Srnd.doc
C:\My Shared Folder\Dtr.doc
C:\Program Files\Fcsd.doc
C:\Windows\Ldxr.doc

Said files will be executed in Windows register but they can be eliminated due to an error in the programme.  This virus does not represent a serious risk but as all malicious codes, they do not have place in other PCs.
