With regard to the diet treatment, we must consider the moment the illness is through to diminish the symptoms and to improve the general condition.

We eliminate the dairy and meat; we can have cooked white in order to provide proteins.

We diminish the amount of fatty acids; we just use small amounts of corn oil.

We diminish the amount of carbohydrates; we only eat rice, corn flour, grit, grit noodles, water biscuit low in fat, dried bread.

We increase the consumption of strained vegetable stock, with salt, fruit stock, during the whole day.

We have diet jelly.

Fruits and vegetables: Apple (peeled, cooked or grated), banana without the threads and without the core too ripe, carrot, squash, and round zucchini without the skin and seeds.

As the chart widens, dairy products with modified lactose are added, such as lean white cheese, muzzarella, ricotta, diet yoghurt in small quantities, as each person's tolerance.

First, we add white meat, chicken, fish, and then red meat, cooked vegetables, potatoes, sweet potatoes, cooked or peeled fruits, and then raw or peeled, and when the intestine functions normally, we can eat raw fruits or with skin and well-washed, leave vegetables, dry fruits, pulse, cereals; so in this way, we will increase fibbers until we get to the recommendation of 20 to 30 gr. on a daily basis, to prevent constipation.

In case we are in a constipation phase:

• Increase the consumption of fruits, such as citrus fruits, kiwi, plum; do not eat apple, banana or quince, since they are astringest.

• Eat a greater quantity of wheat bran, leave vegetables, beetroot, pulse.

• Increase the consumption of fibbers to 40-50 gr., according to the symptoms (pain); once this is over, we can come back to 25-30 gr. to avoid diarrhoea.

• Eat a small quantity of fat acids in each meal, such as cream, oil, cream cheese, etc.

• Dairy products: Choose between yoghurt and white cheese.

• Drink enough liquids, specially cold, water, compote, juice, jellow.

General recommendations:

The diet should be varied, divided (4 to 6 meals) to prevent very big meals; it should contain fibbers from both types ( soluble or not) taking into account the recommendation; the correct amount of calories for each person according to weight, age, activity and physiological situation; balanced (carbohydrate 50 to 60% Proteins 10 to 20% and the rest of the calories should come from fat); we should choose low fat dairy products and lean meat, avoid extreme temperature (too cold or too hot), use soft spice, decrease the consumption of sugar and salt, drink water all day long, but not sodas, coffee, alcohol, and if it is possible, not chew gum or smoke.

When we talk about this syndrome, it is beneficial to do physical activity and relaxing exercises to control stress and, above all to see a nutritionist who will help us and evaluate the best diet treatment for each case in particular.
