ImageVicente Priessnitz (1799-1851) was one of the first persons to study water benefits in humans. He established that when cold water is used to cure some affection, it is not the water itself but the body which produces a stabilizing reaction.

There are friction seat baths, genitalia baths, cold water massages, steam baths, jet baths, etc.

Seat bath: it requires little water, just to cover 1/3  of the capacity of the container where it will be done.

While you are seating inside the recipient, you should rub your lower abdomen with a wet towel.

Cold water seat baths contributes to bowels relief and help to evacuate. You should take these baths twice a day with a 5 minutes length at most.  

Brushing bath: Water must cover half of the recipient with a temperature of 35˚ and you should use a brush to rub the following areas of your body: arms, legs, chest, abdomen and the back.

It is advisable to take this bath in the morning or at night, before going to bed. This kind of bath is beneficial for the skin, as it erases all the impurities this organ generates.

It is good for cases of gastrointestinal pain.

Prevents rheumatism and increases body resistance to colds.

Genitalia baths: You should be seating on a bidet or basin. Water must be always running, for this reason it is advisable to left the tap open for water renewal. Using a towel, women wash up the labia majora, this is not considered a vaginal bath.

With this method women clean vaginal flux or local eruptions, you can also add mallow to this kind of bath (preparing 1 liter of tea and then washing up).

In the case of men, the male member is cleaned. Circumcised men do not need to do that.

Bath length is 20-40 minutes for both.

This bath has influence on bowels, kidneys, and great sympathetic nervous system.

Feet baths: In this case water must cover up to the calf. It lasts 2-5 minutes, after which you should put cotton or woolen socks on to get warm again.


You can also alternate between cold and hot water. It is ideal for chilblains, varicose veins, swollen or cold or aching feet.

Cold water baths on feet decongest the head, neck, chest and abdomen.

Jet or effusion bath: it is like being under a cascade. It energizes the nervous system, balances the body temperature and vitalizes the organism.

This bath is made with a hose; water pressure should not be too high.

The distance between water jet and person should be 15 cm and its direction should be in a 45° angle approximately. The length should be 3 minutes at most and then you can re-start it if you think it is necessary.             

Face: The jet is oriented directly towards the face, which should be looking upwards. The jet completes a circle beginning on the forehead.

Again, horizontally moving down and up.

Invigorates skin and is an excellent capillary tonic. It fights physical and mental weakness, and relieves head and teeth pain.

Arms: Starts at the right arm, beginning by the fingers externally up to the shoulder, and then going down again, but this time internally. The same for the other arm. Ideal for cardiac disorders, coronary arteriosclerosis, asthma, nerves energizer, in arms paralysis, cramps, insomnia and rheumatic pain.

Back and arms: It starts at the right hand beginning by the fingers, going up to the shoulder and reaching the center of the spine, waits for a few seconds and then goes down by the left arm to the fingers.

It improves breathing, eliminates chronic catarrh, prevents colds and is a great benefactor of heart and lungs.

Knees and legs: The hose is situated over the right foot toes and goes up to the knee, where it makes a few circles. The same for the other leg.

Then the hose is situated in the back side and starts from the ankle up to the knee, where you wait for a few minutes with jet watering the area. It starts by the right side, too. Then do the same with the other foot. This exercise lasts 2-3 minutes.

Ideal for pain in the legs, head, rheumatism and abdominal discomfort. Invigorates muscles, regulates blood circulation, and prevents varicose veins formation.

Thighs: It starts as in legs, from the back side and the ankle, reaching the kidneys. Wait for a few minutes in this area and start descending to the same area where you began. The same for the other thigh.

It lasts 2-3 minutes. Ideal for cramps, rheumatism, paralysis, bladder dysfunction, kidney, liver and stomach.
