In your forties you have put on weight, don’t be alarmed
|
 | Do no panic or believe you will not be able to loose weight, you only need to ask yourself what you have done to control your body weight and avoid putting on weigh. |
Ask yourself the following questions:
Am I doing less physical exercise?
Do I have a sedentary job?
| I've I stopped going to work on foot or have I stopped going up the stairs? |
Do I go on a diet or do exercise?
Have I changed my feeding habits?
We should ask these questions every time we realize we have put on weight.
When women are around 50 they naturally put on weight, the main reason is a diminution in metabolism. The calories excess is kept in our bodies as body fat. If there is also a lack of physical activity, this body fat may increase. As we get older, our metabolism requires less energy to work efficiently, partly due to muscle mass reduction. To work out your body weight with exercises, helps your body to strengthen your muscle mass.
An aerobic activity such as walking, running or riding your bike, also helps to form muscle tissue, but it is also more beneficial to keep a good cardiovascular health and to burn calories in the short term.
This weight loss will take place when you do exercises as part of your routine and the muscle tissue starts forming with a regular aerobic activity.
You have to exercise at least twice a week. If you start a fitness programme, may be you believe you are not loosing weight but you will find that your clothes suit better or that you need a smaller size.
Muscle mass weights more than body fat, so after two months of exercising you probably weight the same, but your body will be more toned up, with fibre and not with body fat.
