Generally, these kinds of treatments based on medicines are quite effective to lose weight, long term ones having the best results. A good combination of resources is also good.

You should always have in mind that obesity is a disease associated with other chronic pathologies becoming very common.

At present, every medicine that is authorized for this kind of treatments includes sibutramine, which inhibits food consumption, and orlistat, which blocks fat digestion.

Some pharmacological strategies can be determined:

1- Blocking the absorption of nutrients: For this purpose, orlistat prevents partial food fat absorption. According to research carried out, it was shown that it blocked consumed triglyceride digestion up to 30% on a diet with 30% of fat. It was also proved that after a year, the drug produces a weight loss between 9 and 10% out of total weight.

Orlistat triggers fat elimination through fecal matter, and can be associated with side effects, such as oil leaks, urge to have a bowel movement, and rise in defecation. Said side effects eventually decrease.  It can reduce the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, especially vitamin E and beta-carotene, although some physical levels can remain within normal limits.


2. – Thermogenic Effects: Here, ephedrine and caffeine are applied, which dissipate the energy food provides, such as heat. In clinical tests, ephedrine and caffeine combination resulted in significant weight losses. The side effect is an increase in heart rate and tachycardia in some patients.

3. - Stressing inhibiting effects of anorectic signs or factors: Thus, subitramine blocks those that stimulate eating desires. It thus helps reduce the amount of food consumption.
Side effects are associated with dry mouth and insomnia. It can also cause a slight rise in blood pressure and heart rate, which remains during the treatment.
