The states of stress contributes to accumulate fat on the hips
|
| New researches have demonstrated that women, especially when they find themselves in the so called premenopause stage, suffer from more important body fat accumulation in the peripheral part of the body. | |
In this way the body fat localizes around hips, as opposed to men, where the same effect can be seen in the abdomen. In both cases this situation may increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes.
| At the time a person suffers from the symptoms of stress, the body starts to release a hormone called hydrocortisone; this one increases the effect of body fat accumulation in the central abdomen. |
The research was based on answers provided by 30 women with abdominal body fat who did not show overweight of a different kind. They were compared to 29 women that suffered from body fat accumulation in their hips. The results were clear and showed that the 30 women behaved in a more threatening way when time to carry out stressing task came. The hormone increase was meaningful and did not show any decrease when time to perform these tasks came. The opposite took place with the second group.
In spite of these findings, it is still necessary to carry out a bigger research to define the role of genetic traits in body fat distribution. In this way it will be clear whether vulnerability to stress is the cause of body fat accumulation or if it only appears as a simple parallel phenomenon.
